Three new accusations against the cheerleading coach, including that of an alleged victim who was just 8 years old

Two new complainants join the file of cheerleading coach Matthieu Martel. It should be noted that one of the new alleged victims was only 8 years old when the man allegedly made sexually explicit material available to him.

These are three new charges that were added on Tuesday morning to the already very serious case of the 42-year-old man.

Martel is accused of having presented sexual material to a young complainant who was only 8 years old at the time of the crime, which allegedly took place in Stoneham, in 2021. He is the youngest alleged victim of the set of accusations brought against the man. .

The former cheerleading coach was also charged Tuesday with sexual exploitation and luring a teenage girl over a two-year period. The complainant was 16 years old when the alleged crimes began.

41 leaders, 13 complainants

These three new accusations bring the total charges against Matthieu Martel to 41. The alleged victims are 13 at the moment. The man is accused in particular of deception, sexual assault, extortion and sexual exploitation.

Martel was arrested last July by the Sûreté du Québec. Five counts of deception and one count of extortion were initially filed, but the case quickly became more complicated as the investigation progressed.

Several people who had worked with the coach over the years went to authorities after media coverage of the matter.

To date, the accused is also prohibited from contact with around fifty people.

The inquest into Martel’s release is scheduled for October 20. Crown Prosecutor Mmy Geneviève Corriveau has not yet declared the investigation closed.

Matthieu Martel was a cheerleading coach in the Quebec region for several years.

Martel charged an entry fee during these activities, “in money, without a receipt,” indicates this source. The man’s supporters launched a crowdfunding campaign, now deactivated, to help him in his judicial process.
