new Delhi: A man in Hyderabad killed his 17-year-old step-daughter after talking to someone in the middle of the night, news agency IANS reported.
The man, identified as Mohd Sadiq, found his step-daughter Yasmin Unnisa talking to someone on the phone at around 1 am on Saturday. Enraged by this, he strangled the girl and later went to the police station and surrendered.
The incident took place in Bakaram of Musheerabad police station area.
According to the police, the accused said that his daughter was busy on mobile phone till late night and despite his warnings, she did not listen to him.
When he saw her on the phone on Saturday night, he scolded her and in a fit of rage strangled her to death.
According to Musheerabad Police Inspector Jahangir Yadav, Mohammed Taufiq, a resident of Bakaram in Musheerabad, Hyderabad, saw his step-daughter talking on the phone around 1 am on Saturday night. He immediately snatched her phone and asked Yasmin to unlock her phone. When she refused, a fight ensued and he strangled her.
Yasmeen was alone at home at the time of the incident. His mother Rahim Unnisa is said to be working abroad.
Notably, Yasmin was one of Rahim Unnisa’s two daughters from her first husband. After his death, she married Sadiq and later moved to Dubai for a job.
The police have registered a case and the matter is being investigated.
Earlier in November, a man killed his 22-year-old daughter and left her body in a suitcase on the Yamuna Expressway.
According to reports, the man allegedly shot dead his daughter, upset that she had “gone out for a few days” without informing him.
He was also upset that she had married a man from another caste and that she often stayed out late at night.
