Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” will visit India for four days from May 31 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, news agency PTI quoted foreign ministry sources as saying on Friday. This will be Prachanda’s first foreign trip after assuming office for the third time in December last year. According to the report, the yatra will take place from May 31 to June 3, with the ministry making a formal announcement on Saturday.
The Ministry of External Affairs will make a formal announcement on the official visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to India on Saturday. The visit will take place from May 31 to June 3, and he will hold high-level meetings on bilateral ties, including with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the official, who is an aide to Foreign Minister NP Saud, PTI quoted him as saying.
“The final stages of preparations for the visit have been completed. Foreign Minister Saud discussed various issues related to the visit with former foreign ministers and foreign secretaries last week,” the official said.
Meanwhile, this week, Nepalese Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi to discuss the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Prachanda.
As per reports, the bilateral talks between the two leaders in Delhi will mainly focus on energy cooperation, water resources, trade, commerce, transit and infrastructure.

Prachanda had met PM Modi in September 2019 on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York. They talked about issues of mutual interest such as economic cooperation and regional connectivity.
Prime Minister Modi paid a two-day state visit to Nepal in May 2018. He met with Prachanda and other Nepalese leaders with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas such as connectivity, trade and energy.
Prachanda’s first term as prime minister coincided with that of Modi. They met in New Delhi in September 2016 to discuss various issues including trade, infrastructure development and regional connectivity. Prachanda paid a four-day state visit to India in April 2017. He met PM Modi and other Indian officials during his visit. The discussions covered a wide range of topics of mutual interest including trade, investment, energy cooperation and cultural ties.
