The Lok Sabha set aside the disqualification of NCP leader and Lakshadweep MP Mohd Faisal. The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued a notification to restore his membership.

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha has canceled the disqualification of NCP leader and Lakshadweep MP Mohammad Faizal. The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued a notification to restore his membership. It may be known that Faisal had approached the Supreme Court saying that he was not allowed to enter the House despite the High Court’s order. Significantly, after the Supreme Court agreed to hear his petition, the Lok Sabha Secretariat had canceled the disqualification.
On January 11 this year, the Kavaratti Sessions Court had sentenced Mohd Faizal to ten years imprisonment in a case of attempt to murder. On the 13th of the same month, the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notification disqualifying him. He later filed a petition in the Kerala High Court challenging his jail sentence. The court hearing this stayed the sentence imposed on him. However, the Lok Sabha Secretariat did not lift the disqualification against him. Recently, he approached the Supreme Court saying that despite coming to the Parliament, the security personnel are not allowed inside the House.
