Marilyn Manson was convicted in New Hampshire for blowing his nose at a cameraman in an incident the judge called “heinous.”
The musician must perform 20 hours of community service and pay a fine of approximately $1,400 for the incident that occurred in 2019 during his concert. The singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, was due to appear in court in person on Monday (September 18). The judge said he would be allowed to perform his community service in California.
Marilyn Manson, 54, initially pleaded not guilty to the assault charges, but later changed his plea to no contest. In doing so, he did not contest the charge, but was not required to admit his guilt.
According to a police report, Marilyn Manson spit on this woman on August 19, 2019 while she was filming his show at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford. The police investigator, who reviewed images of the event, said that Marilyn Manson was seen putting her face close to the camera held by photographer Susan Fountain and spitting a “big mouthful” at her, according to his police statement. A short time later, he returned, knelt over her and placed her hand over one nostril before blowing a “significant amount of mucus” into her.
The police report adds that the camera shows Marilyn Manson pointing at Susan Fountain and laughing at her as he walks away.
In a statement read to the court, Susan Fountain said: “I have never been humiliated or treated the way I have by this defendant. Him spitting on me and blowing his nose is the most disgusting thing a human being has ever done. »
As part of his sentence, Marilyn Manson must also notify police of any concerts planned in New Hampshire in the next two years and provide proof that his community service was performed before February 4, 2024.
The star, who wore a black suit in court, addressed the judge twice. She responded “yes” when she was asked if she understood the phrase. Speaking to reporters outside court, Marilyn Manson said she intended to perform TIG on herself with “people who are in the process of rehabilitation.”
In recent years, Marilyn Manson has faced multiple accusations of sexual assault and filed a defamation lawsuit against one of his accusers, actress Evan Rachel Wood.
