Karnataka Elections: People above 80 years of age and people with disabilities have been given the opportunity to vote from home. CEC Rajeev Kumar said this while announcing the schedule for Karnataka assembly elections. The CEC has announced the election schedule for 224 assembly seats today.

New Delhi: The schedule for Karnataka assembly elections has been released today. CEC Rajeev Kumar has announced the election dates for 224 assembly seats. The term of the assembly will end on May 24 this year. Voters above the age of 80 are being given the opportunity to exercise their right to vote from home. He said that the number of voters above 80 years in Karnataka is more than 12 lakh. He said that by April 1, 2023, people who have completed 18 years of age will be given the right to vote. CEC Rajeev Kumar said that this time 41 thousand new young voters will get a chance. According to the voter list, a total of 5.21 votes were recorded in Karnataka. The CEC said that 5.55 lakh people are disabled.
All arrangements will be made at the polling station for the convenience of senior citizens and differently-abled voters. For the first time in Karnataka, 9.17 lakh people will exercise their franchise. He said that special measures have been taken for tribal voters in the state. CEC informed that a total of 58 thousand 282 polling stations have been set up in 224 assembly constituencies. On an average there are 883.50 voters per polling station. Webcasting facility has been made available at all polling stations. Only women officers will operate 1320 polling stations.
