There has been a stir in Tamil Nadu due to the raids of the Income Tax Department (IT raids). IT officials are conducting searches in 40 areas, including the residence of the state’s Power and Agriculture Minister Senthil Balaji.

Chennai: There has been a stir in Tamil Nadu due to the raid of the Income Tax Department. IT officials are conducting searches in 40 areas, including the residence of the state’s Power and Agriculture Minister Senthil Balaji. The officials simultaneously raided their offices and properties in Chennai, Karur and Coimbatore. The houses of the minister’s close friends and several contractors are also being searched.
Meanwhile, there was mild tension amid IT attacks on minister’s residences and offices. Local people and DMK workers blocked Income Tax officials in Karur. A woman officer was prevented from entering the minister’s residence. They attacked the vehicles of the officers.
IT officials had also conducted raids in Tamil Nadu on 24th of last month. Searches were conducted at several properties and offices of real estate company G Square.
