Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that INS Mormugao is one of the most powerful warships built in India and will significantly enhance Indian maritime capabilities. Singh said that INS Mormugao is one of the most technologically advanced missile carriers in the world.
The Minister was addressing the dignitaries during the commissioning of INS Mormugao into the Indian Navy in Mumbai. The ceremony was also attended by Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, Goa CM Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries.
He said, “The place where we all have gathered today for the commissioning of INS ‘Mormugao’ is a historical area that has witnessed the valor of heroes like Chhatrapati Shivaji, Sambhaji and Kanhoji. has its own special importance.

Talking about India’s capability in warship building, Singh said that this is an example of our indigenous defense production capability and in future India will do shipbuilding for the world.
He said that the systems at INS Mormugao would be able to meet not only the present but also the future requirements.

The minister also remembered former Goa CM and Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar. “On this occasion, I also pay tribute to the former Defense Minister, Late Shri Manohar Parrikar, red of the soil of Goa and from whose hands INS Mormugao was launched in September 2016,” he added.

Talking about the features of INS Mormugao, he said that it is one of the most advanced missile carriers in the world with state-of-the-art sensor package and medium-range surface-to-air missiles, BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles. Is. and indigenous anti-submarine torpedo tube launchers.
Rajnath Singh also emphasized on the growing economic strength of India and said, “Recently, our country’s economy has been included in the top five economies of the world. And according to a big agency, in the next 5 years i.e. by 2027, India will join the top 3 economies of the world.
