A scam has been busted in eastern France. Almost 1,400 people bought their highway code from an exam center director who conducted the exams for them.
Get your highway code without even taking the exam. This is what the director of an examination center in Val-de-Marne proposed until this summer. In May, a resident warned Vesoul gendarmes about fraud.
“We have discovered fifty inhabitants of Haute-Saône who have respected the traffic code in Val-de-Marne,” explains Chief Petty Officer David to BFMTV.
Heard in mid-July, almost all of them admitted to having bought their highway code from young people from Vesoul, the resellers of the scam.
The latter registered the customer via the Internet at an examination center, which then sent a copy of the success code by email. Gradually, the researchers discovered that around 1,400 people had purchased your exam. The director of the center gave them the code in exchange for a payment of between 250 and 600 euros.
Privatization of the exam in 2016.
For driving school unions, this type of fraud was made possible thanks to the privatization of the highway code exam in 2016.
“When the code examination was managed by the State and driving license inspectors, there was no fraud,” laments Patrick Mirouse, president of the ECF.
The manager, the intellectual author of the scam, pocketed around 120,000 euros in this scam. For their part, all fraudsters will have their code test cancelled, as will their driving license if they have obtained it immediately.
