First Alert Forecast: This cooling trend continues

Meteorologist Christy Steward’s first warning

Happy Saturday evening! It was cool today with the temperature around 50°. The cool trend will continue into tomorrow, then we’ll be cold for most of next week.

Tonight has turned cold and the temperature has dropped to near freezing. A mix of sunshine and clouds Sunday through Wednesday. High temperatures during that period will remain in the mid-40s. Stays near the minimum freezing point overnight.

A powerful system affects us from Thursday to Friday. As I mentioned yesterday, a small change in any part of this system will cause a change in our forecast, and that’s exactly what I’m seeing today. It looks like the coastal low running along the coast will not be as strong on Thursday. So, it looks like a mostly rain event now. While there is still a potential for mix-up, our northern communities have a better chance. Again, we could see more changes tomorrow and in the next few days, but a White Christmas is looking unlikely now. Still stay on Forecast for updates!

Changes in the coastal low have also affected our forecasted temperatures. Thursday is looking much warmer with high temperatures in the mid-50s and Friday in the low 50s. Sharp cools in the mid-30s now begin to occur on Saturday, Christmas Eve.
