Falco continued, “And then someone recently said, ‘Oh, Avatar is coming!’ I said, ‘It hasn’t come out yet?’

Cameron’s long-awaited sequel recently opened to a worldwide box office haul of $441.6M in theaters. in america, Avatar: The Way of Water was able to open to $134M, down from initial estimates opening between $150M-$175M.

Cameron had already indicated that if Avatar: The Way of Water did not perform well at the box office, he would end the film series with the third film.
“The market may tell us we’re done in three months, or we may be semi-complete, which means: ‘Okay, let’s complete the story within movie three, and not go on endlessly’, if it’s profitable.” There isn’t,” he told Total Film in an interview.
