Antoine Dupont (26 years old), captain of the French XV, was questioned again on the cover of Current Values in which he appears in the foreground. The scrum half did not want to comment on the issue after his response on social networks.
Antoine Dupont (26 years old) did not want to delve into the debate about the use of his image on the cover of the far-right magazine Valeurs contemporains last week. The captain of the French XV has already disassociated himself from this editorial choice on social networks by sharing a message from actor Jean Dujardin, also on the cover, on Instagram: “France rugby yes, your values no.”
“I’m not sure that’s the issue now.”
The scrum half was questioned this Tuesday at a press conference after the announcement of the composition of the starting team for the third match of the World Cup against Namibia, on Thursday (9 p.m.) in Marseille.
“I think I have developed my position with this gesture, I am not sure that is the topic of the press conference now,” the Toulouse resident responded firmly.
In this issue dedicated to “French rugby”, the weekly exalted in its own way the advantages of the oval ball, illustrating them by Dupont and Dujardin. “Educated fans, patriotic players, exemplary values: the recipes of a deep-rooted sport that has become a model for society.” Editorial director Tugdual Denis reacted to Dupont and Dujardin’s messages in a recent editorial.
Dupont, the best player in the world in 2021, joined around fifty French athletes in April 2022 to ask the French to vote in favor of Emmanuel Macron (LREM), in order to block Marine Le Pen (RN) in the second round of the presidential election.

Following this political update, Dupont will return to the field and his captain’s armband on Thursday for the match against Namibia after resting last week against Uruguay (27-12).
