BJP’s strategy to harass Delhi: AAP on LG’s order to recover Rs 97 crore on ‘political ads’

Aam Aadmi Party has reacted to Delhi LG Vinay Kumar Saxena’s order to recover Rs 97 crore from the party for publishing political advertisements as government advertisements.

The AAP said the Bharatiya Janata Party was using all these tactics to harass the people of Delhi and asked why they were being targeted when every state government releases advertisements in other states.

Earlier, Delhi LG Vinay Kumar Saxena directed the Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 crore for political advertisements published by Aam Aadmi Party as government advertisements.

The order comes in the wake of a 2015 Supreme Court order, a 2016 Delhi HC order and a 2016 CCRGA order being flouted by the AAP government.

The tussle between the LG of Delhi and the current AAP government is not new and has been going on since the time of former LG Anil Baijal. Both keep accusing each other of obstructing the functioning of the Legislature.

Earlier in September, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that he was “unfairly maligned” after his name was not included in the first chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. Sisodia said that BJP fabricated the story of liquor scam and raided his residence.
