Last week we told you about the two caretakers involved in a home located in Pecq. They shared, in a private discussion group, photographs of older people in degrading situations. A union comes to his defense.
Degrading images of elderly people in a home were spread in a private group on social media. The nurses behind the clichés are the first to be threatened with dismissal for serious misconduct. They finally returned to the team a few days later. A decision supported by a union. “We can understand that these photos are shocking for a person.“acknowledges Marc Snappe, regional secretary of the CSC.”But they have to be put in context and the press has not been informed of the full context.“
But what is the context then? “I can’t tell you more“, indicates the union member. “I prefer to remain reserved regarding the discussion that will take place with the authority.“
The photographs were apparently taken several years ago in a medical context. But why did they reappear a few months ago in a new group? The question remains unanswered.

According to AVIQ, the nursing home monitoring body, this is clearly abuse. “It is a serious situation“says Lara Kotlar, spokesperson for AVIQ.”They are humiliating and degrading photographs. You wouldn’t think that would happen. We were super shocked.“
The organization recommends a series of measures to prevent this from happening again. “The staff is shocked. And therefore, we must be transparent about what is happening and what will be implemented next.“the spokesperson continues. “We suggested they turn to Respect Senior, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and provides training in the fight against elder abuse.“
The CSC has requested an emergency council which should be held this week.
