In addition to the king and queen, princesses Amalia and Alexia, Prince Constantin and Princess Laurentien were on the balcony. After a while waving to the crowd, they returned inside.

Alexia emerged from the crystal carriage in the company of her uncle, Prince Constantin, and her aunt, Princess Laurentien. Her grandmother, Princess Beatrice, watched from the Council of State building. Amalia, 19, attended the ceremony for the first time last year and was faithful by her younger sister’s side during this edition.
The police were in great demand this third Tuesday in September, the traditional Princes’ Day in the Netherlands. In addition to some voices of protest in the city center, around 200 Extinction Rebellion activists blocked a section of the A12 motorway. As during the blockades carried out in recent days, the police activated water cannons to disperse the protesters.
Since September 9, the Extinction Rebellion (XR) group has been leading this action every day. In particular, it calls on the authorities to end direct subsidies to the fossil fuel industry.
