A human catastrophe more than 200 employees fired and replaced by artificial intelligence that provides a faster and more reliable service This decision has, so far, no precedent in France.
Inclusive is a company that specializes in media monitoring and is known for its expertise in writing press reviews, an essential service for many companies in the CAC 40, as well as for various French ministries and public services. Its headquarters are located in the business district of La Défense, near Paris.
It currently has 383 employees but as of June 2024, it will have more than 217 less according to information obtained by Release. The work of these employees will now be guaranteed by artificial intelligence. A tool that adapts quite well to Onclusive’s sector of activity.
AI is capable of providing a “faster and more reliable” service than humans
However, the decision to replace so many employees by laying off more than half of the company’s staff has, so far, no precedent in France. The decision was described as a “human catastrophe in preparation” by the company’s union, according to comments reported by our colleagues.
For its part, the company justifies this controversial position by the need to adapt to the artificial intelligence revolution, stating that AI will be able to provide a service “faster and more reliable” than its human employees.
In a press release, Matthew Piercy, Onclusive’s chief financial officer, said this decision was not made lightly. The company is especially committed to fully supporting its employees through a well-thought-out transition process.
